The place was packed today as most Malaysians have a long break due to Christmas. As well as the boats and duty-free shops, we had our driver stop at famous Eagle Square. It was misty with showers but the wetness was very warm.
We walked a few kilometres from the port area. First, we went to the largest mall and then we walked into the city to have a lunch at a typical Malay outdoor food restaurant.
It was nice to get away from the beach and better on a day which wasn't very sunny and bright. Tomorrow we'll head back to Penang on an early evening flight. It's been good staying in a hostel-type of accommodation. Rubbing shoulders with travelling kids doesn't really keep us any younger, but I can appreciate our wisdom and experience. We did find other mature travellers here, such as Lynda and Gerald from the UK. There is a whole international troop of world vagabonds. Meeting a select few during on our adventures is always a treat.
