Especially during the last few years, I've considered myself a bit of a palm-tree-type-of guy during wintertime. There's surely no denying that the views around here can be pretty darned nice at this time of year too. We will probably return eventually to winters between coconut trees, but I promise myself that I'll never take wherever I am for granted.
As we were driving down the hill by the New Westminster City Hall, I decided to pull in. We parked over near the Fourth Street parking lot and I walked to see what Tipperary Park looked like. I hear tell that people are allowed to skate on some local ponds this winter, so I was pretty sure the little pond and river would be frozen. This was my favourite park hangout until the Pier Park along the Fraser River opened a few years back. In fact, "my eJournal" references to this little oasis of green go back at least a dozen years. I still love stopping by the area beside city hall as it always seems so undiscovered.
