I wrote this statement on Facebook early this morning. We were aware that the SkyTrain system was having troubles from before 6:00 AM because we can hear the announcements from our bedroom. The snow wasn't even covering the grass in Pier Park at the time.
We drove uptown on a few errands later in the morning. Of course, even a few dozen meters gain in elevation means that more snow can stick. In the early afternoon, a new snow advisory was issued by Environment Canada.
Right now at about quarter past three, a few inches is on the ground down here near the river. As I look out past the balcony I see a white-out. This IS enough to now cause a lot of trouble. For example, I have never owned snow tires since living here. The place is all hills though. Most folk don't know how to drive when there's anything except rain on the road. The forecast shows it may remain remain cold for a good portion of the week. This just might be one of those rare occasions where the ground in and around Metro-Vancouver stays white for a few days in a row!
