As we're going to be in two places, I really couldn't figure out which location matches their personalities more: Penang, Malaysia or Siem Reap, Cambodia. Because of this, I have sent a deluge of web links of both cities. More recently, I moved to the visual appeal of photos as a means of enticement. I wanted to showcase how multicultural Malaysia is. I first sent a photo I took in 2011. It was one of the Hindu temples during a nighttime celebration in George Town.
Following that, I sent an email containing a link to this photo. It was also taken in George Town during the same trip. I added that there are Chinese, Thai, and Burmese Buddhist Temples on the island.
After a day or so, I thought I'd continue with a photo of the main Anglican Church in Penang. There are many Christian congregations but I found out that St. George's is presently celebrating the run up to their '200th Year Anniversary'. It is the oldest purpose built Anglican church in South East Asia. I didn't have a picture of my own, but was happy to include this one from Flickr by Andrew Charlie.
By this time, I reckoned I needed to include a photo of a final religious structure. I sent one last email containing the image of the famous, Floating Mosque at Tanjung Bungah, just outside downtown George Town. Again, I needed to locate one to send. Of course there were many stunning photos of this place of Islamic worship. I did like this early morning shot by Matyeo Omar as it provided scenery which might prove to be an added impetus to visit.
I'm not sure this series of photos will provide the necessary push for our friends to come and see us during December, January, or February. However, finding and using these images was an interesting task for me.
