Sing 'Auld Lang Syne' to Some Stored Data

Most times when looking up information I default to using Google. That, when combined with my extensive use of the brand's ecosystem, means I give them a lot of personal information, a tremendous lot. Honestly, I usually consider the trade off worthwhile. Sometimes, however, it might be good to forget a little about your past.

Screenshot 2016-09-13 10.24.24It is frightening to see how much data they collect and keep. There are likely years and years of searches you've made which are stored under your name. Undoubtedly this can offer some benefits, but many of those are for the company rather than you. After all, that is why it is nearly free to receive the myriad of useful services they provide. It belongs to you though and Google makes it easy for you to delete it.

  • If you've not done so, you might want to occasionally clear all the stuff that's saved under your accounts. Why don't you see how many hundreds or thousands of items are associated with your Google account now. It will not hurt to rid them of enormous chunks of your past, especially your location data. In fact, I have set a reoccurring reminder to delete my data on a monthly basis. Is it ironic that I'm doing so by using my Google Calendar?
