We needed to get out of the house this morning and decided to take a little hike to the nearest banana fields. It is only a mile to where we can pluck some banana flowers off the bunches which are immature and have not been picked.
It is always a pleasure to walk south along the dirt road next to the Nile. We saw that wheat is sprouting up nicely. The farmers and folks along the rural West Bank are friendly and it's a pleasure to greet the honest folks, unlike the many touts trolling the tourist areas.
We found four good blossoms with which to return home. Before the outer peel is removed they take up quite a bit of room. Jay then cuts up the centers and prepares as a Sri Lankan dish. The Egyptians do not eat these, so we are happy not to let the free food go to waste. I'm going to miss the relaxed life of winter in Luxor.
