It is a habit to run to Canada Place at Vancouver's Waterfront for the national birthday. Today, we fulfilled that habit again. There seem increasing numbers of events spread out over the region nowadays. We didn't get up to our own city's festival in Queen's Park today, but there is a Filipino-Canadian concert and fair in Pier Park that we can see and hear from the balcony right now.
We always prefer the tiny little, New Westminster fireworks show from the Fraser River to big events in the region. They're a few hours yet.
The activities at the Waterfront were nice but we decided to visit Granville Island while downtown too. It was packed! I think every single person was out today because of the day off and the wonderful weather. We ate lunch at the Market but had a really hard time even finding a place to sit and eat from our takeaway containers.
It was lovely Canada Day on this coast. It's not even quite over yet.
