The new hard drive had an OEM copy of Windows 8.1 and it took me a lot of time getting rid of Lenovo bloatware. I have always been a little particular about avoiding unnecessary files and programs. Perhaps this came from the time when storage on a floppy was sparse. Computers. though, are the one dear aspect of my life where I can exert uber-control. So, for the last few days, I've been upgrading, deleting, and restarting that computer. It's the workhorse of this home. I have had to do additional research in order to get the Get Windows 10 app to show up. Even at present, no matter how many times I check, this PC's upgrade app isn't ready to switch over.
So, on the under-powered Acer netbook, I anxiously pressed for its upgrade yesterday. At first blush, the operating system seems much more organized than Windows 8. Honestly, we, as computer users, can learn to live with anything. Yet, the hodgepodge of design elements really never let Win8 be at all intuitive. (Remember, this is the guy who never had anything bad to say about Windows Vista.) I think I like Windows 10 a lot better than what I've been using recently. Relearning is always difficult for some, but I sort of love getting used to new environments, be they geographic or virtual. There seems to be a lot of old Windows hidden behind this shiny, modern interface and it's a little frustrating trying to 'get at it all' in a new brand way.
All this computer work sort of reinvigorated by love for PCs. Yet, I fear I'm burning myself out much too soon.
