I may have read about the Little Free Library organization. I could have seen about the concept on the news. What I hadn't known is there is one on First Street to the south of Royal. I spotted it on this morning's walk around the neighbourhood. Also unknown to me, I saw a big hole for a future condo tower over in that area too.
Next, I walked past the new school that sits where former St. Mary's Hospital was. Royal Avenue is really busy and narrow through there, so the sidewalk was moved down nearer the parking lot. The space between was nicely landscaped. One section seems to have been seeded with lovely wild flowers
I crossed the road at the signals and walked past the tennis courts into Tipperary Park. Well before the Pier Park was built, I was in love with the area near the City Hall. I still like how the uncovered stream, landscaping, and vegetation makes it into a real urban oasis.
Realizing I still had not hit my goal for number of steps, I walked down Columbia Street and back later in the afternoon. My Mi band just might goad me into being a little more fit. The main drag of downtown New Westminster seemed pleasant in the sunshine.
